Saint John Bosco (August 16, 1815 – January 31, 1888) Giovanni Melchiori Bosco, also known as Don Bosco, was born as an Italian Catholic priest and teacher, who practiced his faith convictions and dedicated his life to the promotion and education. Poor youth who use teaching methods based on love, not punishment. Its educational system, known as the preventive system, is based on reason, God-consciousness, and loving-kindness.
He also co-founded, together with MarÃa Dominica Mazzarello, the Instituto de Ayuda Cristiana de las Hijas MarÃa, a religious meeting of nuns dedicated to the care and education of girls, known as the Salesian Sisters. It was founded on August 5, 1872, in Mornesi, Alessandria, Italy. Today it has an extensive business of educational institutions in 92 countries.
The Salesian Fathers first arrived in India on January 14, 1906. The first group of Salesian sisters arrived in India (Bombay) on November 20, 1922, when the institute was celebrating its golden anniversary. The first Salesian sisters ventured into all kinds of formal and informal educational activities, health services, and social initiatives, giving adequate responses, and directing their special attention to the less fortunate and marginalized groups.
The seeds of this tree planted today were sown by a team of three brave dreamers, Father Cleove Vasa, Father Luigina Miorelli, and Sister Clara MartÃn. The school started with just 24 students. The school grew rapidly under the effective leadership of remote administration and became a secondary school. The elementary school had to move to another district to start upper secondary school. The primary school was separated and transferred to VasantVihar in 1983. In 1990 the primary school was reassigned to R.K. Puram and High School have moved to VasantVihar.
