In 1947, when families were uprooted, people looted, and Janab killed, Hakim Abdul Hamid Sahib was looking for land that he could buy and build schools for thousands of Muslims and other sectors of society who were on the verge of sliding into the darkness of illiteracy. . Hakim thanked the owner of its creator for blessing him with the money he used to establish schools for Muslims. Foresight saw him buying land in 1947 in what was then a backward forested area but now a densely populated area known as Sangam Vihar. In this land, Junab Hakim, the founder of the Hamdard Educational Society, laid the foundations in 1981 as a registered charity under the Association Registration Act of 1860. This halos-riddled campus was aptly named Talimabad. Hamdard Educational Society, also known as HES, as the supreme body that administers various schools, training centers, and the Hamdard Study Circle has evolved from here. It is one of the country’s leading NGOs primarily concerned with educating minorities, rebuilding the nation through participation in civil administration and nationwide surveys of Muslim-run schools and universities. Hakim Saheb also carried out educational and research activities to establish the Hamdard Charitable Fund in 1948 and the Hamdard National Foundation in 1964. He also founded the Hamidiyeh Charitable Hospital, now known as Centennial Hospital and Hamdard University Hospital. He realized the importance of educating a girl, which is why he founded the Rabie Public School for Girls in Old Delhi.
